Bayou City Art Festival Returns to Houston

When the 2015 Bayou City Art Festival hits Houston at the end of the month, the 1.1-mile trail running through Memorial Park will be filled with over 450 artists! The festival gives locals a chance to browse through thousands of unique art pieces, including paintings, sculptures, jewelry, furniture, clothing, metalwork, photography and much, much more. On top of this, food trucks, beer and wine vendors, music and the popular Green Mountain Energy Children’s Creative Zone will be featured.

Dandelions Used to Make Rubber for Eco-Friendly Tires

Dandelions, the landscaper’s curse and wish-making weed, may be used very soon to create sustainable tires. Did you know that the U.S. imports its rubber from Southeast Asia for roughly $3 billion annually? Yup, it’s a substantial sum. To cut back these costs and provide a more eco-friendly alternative to imported rubber, which relies on scarce rubber trees, a couple of outfits in the U.S. are working on extracting latex from a rare cousin of the American dandelion.
